JC3 - Check For Coil PWR at Coil
WARNING: NEVER CONNECT PCM TO THE EEC BREAKOUT BOX WHEN PERFORMING EI DIAGNOSTICS.
- Key Off.
- Install EI diagnostic harness to breakout box.
- Connect negative lead to battery.
- Set EI diagnostic harness type switch to "4/6 cylinder" position.
- Install the coil tee (the tee is blue with 4 pins).
- Use EI (High Data Rate) 6 overlay.
- DVOM on 20 volt DC scale.
- Key On, Engine Off.
- When making voltage checks, a ground reading means any valve within a range of zero to 1 volt. Also, VPWR or COIL PWR readings mean any value that falls within a range of B+ to 2 volts less than B+.
- Measure voltage between (+)J5 (COIL PWR) and (-)J7 (B-) at breakout box.
- Is DC voltage greater than 10.0 volts?
YES -- Go to JC4. JC4 - Check For C1 High at Coil Pack - KOEO
NO -- CHECK connectors, SERVICE or REPLACE harness. COIL PWR is open. REMOVE all test equipment. RECONNECT all components. Clear continuous memory. Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
Rerun quick test. Diagnostic Subroutines (DSR) - Extracting Codes
