Front Door Window Regulator: Service and Repair
RemovalWindow Regulator:
1. Remove front door trim panel and front door trim shield. Doors
WARNING: IF THE FRONT DOOR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR COUNTERBALANCE SPRING MUST BE REMOVED OR REPLACED FOR ANY REASON, MAKE SURE THAT THE FRONT DOOR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR ARMS ARE IN A FIXED POSITION PRIOR TO REMOVAL TO PREVENT POSSIBLE INJURY DURING C-SPRING UNWIND.
2. Lower front door window glass to access holes in door inner panel. Remove two nut and washer assemblies retaining front door window glass to front door window channel bracket.
3. Prop the front door window glass in the full-up position.
4. Disconnect body main wiring.
5. Remove two nut and washer assemblies retaining window regulator equalizer arm bracket .
6. Remove the three rivets and one nut and washer assembly attaching front door window regulator to door inner panel as follows:
- Remove the center pin from each rivet with a drift punch.
- Using a 6 mm drill, drill out the remaining of the rivet using care not to enlarge the sheet metal retaining holes.
7. Remove front door window regulator through door access hole.
Installation
1. With front door window glass in full-up position, install front door window regulator through access hole in door inner panel.
2. Position front door window regulator to door inner panel and install three rivets and one nut and washer assembly.
3. Install window regulator equalizer arm bracket to front door window regulator and loosely assemble with two nut and washer assemblies.
4. Install front door window channel bracket to front door window glass and secure with two nut and washer assemblies. Tighten nut and washer assemblies to 10-14 N-m (89-124 lb-in).
5. Connect body main wiring.
6. Lower front door window glass approximately 75 mm (3 inches) from full-up position.
7. With front door open, place hands on each side of front door window glass and pull front door window glass fully into front door glass top run.
8. Apply a downward pressure on the window regulator equalizer arm bracket and tighten two nuts and washer assemblies. Tighten to 10-14 N-m (89-124 lb-in).
9. Cycle front door window glass to verify proper operation.
10. Install front door trim panel and front door trim shield.
