Impact Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVALWARNING: The electrical circuit necessary for system deployment is powered directly from the battery. To avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury, the battery ground cable must be disconnected prior to servicing or replacing any system components.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect positive battery cable. Wait one minute for backup power supply energy to be depleted.
3. Remove radiator upper sight shield.
4. Disconnect RH or LH primary crash sensor electrical connectors.
5. Remove two screws retaining either RH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket to air bag sensor mounting bracket or LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket at side of grille opening reinforcement bracket and remove RH front air bag sensor and bracket or LH front air bag sensor and bracket.
NOTE: Remove windshield washer reservoir before removing LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket retaining screws.
INSTALLATION
1. Position RH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket to air bag sensor mounting bracket or LH primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket to air bag sensor mounting bracket in vehicle and secure with RH or LH primary crash sensor-to-grille opening reinforcement bracket screws. Tighten screws to 10.2-13.8 Nm (90-122 lb in).
2. Install windshield washer reservoir.
3. Connect RH or LH primary crash sensor wire lead connector to headlamp dash panel junction wire connector and secure wiring retainer.
4. Install radiator upper sight shield.
5. Reconnect battery ground cable.
6. Prove out air bag system.
