Exhaust Gas Recirculation Temperature (EGRT) Sensor Schematic:
NOTE: You should enter this Pinpoint Test only when you have been directed here from Diagnostic Routines.
REMEMBER: To prevent the replacement of good components, be aware that the following non-Electronic Engine Controls (EEC) areas may be at fault:
- Damaged EGR valve
- Damaged EGR Pressure Transducer (EPT)
- Stuck throttle plate
- Restricted exhaust system
- Damaged vacuum lines, reservoir or canister
This Pinpoint Test is intended to diagnose the following:
- EGRT sensor
- Harness circuits: EGRT and SIG RTN
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM) (12A650)
Description: The EGR Temperature (EGRT) sensor resistance varies with temperature. It is located downstream of the EGR valve and its resistance decreases as EGR flow increases. The PCM uses the EGRT sensor input as an indication that the EGR system in functioning properly.
