ISSUE:
1994 model Thunderbird/Cougar vehicles, equipped with Semi-Automatic Temperature Control (SATC), do not have the English/Metric conversion option for temperature display for vehicles in Canada.

ACTION:
Refer to the following procedures for service details.

ON VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 3/18/94

If metric conversion is desired, attach a ground to pin No. 1 cavity of the SATC connector C-259 to convert the display to metric.

1. Remove the RH inboard instrument panel register and the glove box door for ease of routing of the new circuit. Refer to 1994 Thunderbird/Cougar Service Manual, Section 12-03A-26 for I/P registers, and Section 01-12-10 for the glove box door.

2. Attach a terminal (order drawer B-9 through Augat Automotive (Augat gives it this Ford P/N: E7EB-14487-GA) to a 3 ft.(91.4cm) length of 20 ga. wire.

3. Install the new terminal with wire into the pin No. 1 cavity in the SATC connector C-259. Refer to the 1994 Thunderbird/Cougar Electrical And Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual, Pages 55-6 and 151-13, for connector location.

4. Route the wire carefully, grounding it at G209 (using an eyelet connector) located behind the glove box door. Refer to the 1994 Thunderbird/Cougar Electrical And Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual, Page 151-13, for ground location.

ON VEHICLES BUILT FROM 3/18/94

Vehicles built from 3/18/94 are equipped with a terminal in pin No. 1 of the SATC connector C-259 and a wire connecting to the G200 connector. The existing bus bar is blank at this terminal. If metric conversion is desired, install a ground bus bar to the G200 ground bus connector behind glove box door.

1. Remove the glove box door for ease of routing of the new circuit. Refer to 1994 Thunderbird/Cougar Service Manual, Section 01-12-10, for the glove box door removal.

2. Locate the center bracket behind the glove box door assembly.

3. Install a new ground bus bar (F4SZ-14421-A) in the G200 ground bus connector which is attached to the center bracket behind glove box door. Refer to the 1994 Thunderbird/Cougar Electrical And Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual, Pages 10-7 and 151-13, for ground bus bar location.

NOTE:
DO NOT PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE TO 1995 MODEL YEAR THUNDERBIRD/COUGAR VEHICLES. 1995 VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH AN A/C CONTROL HEAD FEATURE ENABLING THE DRIVER TO CHANGE THE ENGLISH/METRIC DISPLAY. REFER TO THE 1995 OWNERS GUIDE FOR DETAILS.
