Front Sensors and Brackets
RemovalWARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE AND THE BATTERY BACKUP MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
1. Disconnect positive battery cable and wait one minute for backup power supply energy to be depleted.
2. In servicing RH sensor, raise the RH headlamp by using the service switch. Remove RH headlamp bezel and splash shield.
3. Remove electrical connector retaining clip from the apron under headlamp.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector.
5. Remove the two bolts retaining the sensor and remove the sensor.
Installation
1. Position the sensor in the vehicle, ensuring that the arrow faces to the front of the vehicle. Install sensor retaining bolts and tighten to 20-25 N.m (15-18 lb-ft).
2. Connect the sensor lead to the wiring harness connector.
3. Install the connector retaining clip into the hole in the apron. If servicing RH sensor, install RH headlamp splash shield and bezel.
4. Connect positive battery ground cable.
5. Lower the RH headlamp.
6. Prove out air bag system.
