Clutch Switch: Description and Operation
Clutch Pedal Position Switch:
PURPOSE
The Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch detects clutch engagement and sends an input signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM uses this input as a factor in determining engine load. Adjustments to air/fuel mixture, idle speed, ignition timing, fuel pressure, purge flow and A/C cutoff are made accordingly.
OPERATION
This is an ON/OFF switch. Contacts are either open (pedal released) or closed (pedal depressed) depending on clutch pedal position.
