Camshaft: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.2. Disconnect air bypass hoses and remove intake air tube.
3. Disconnect throttle cable and remove retaining bracket.
4. Remove cylinder head valve cover.
5. Remove timing belt.

6. Remove camshaft pulleys by holding camshaft with wrench then remove pulley retaining bolt.
7. Remove seal plate then camshaft seal using seal removing tool No. T78P-3504-N, or equivalent.
8. If removing intake camshaft, remove distributor.
9. Note cylinder number and rotation direction of each camshaft bearing cap, then remove camshaft bearing cap bolts alternately and gradually.
10. Remove the camshaft.
11. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Align timing marks on camshaft.

b. Tighten bearing caps to 9-10 ft lb in sequence.
c. Install new camshaft seals using seal installation tools T90P-6256-AH and -BH, or equivalents.
