Removal and Installation

REMOVAL
1. Remove air cleaner assembly, then disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect five transaxle electrical connectors, then separate transaxle harness from clips.
3. Raise and support vehicle, then drain transaxle fluid.
4. Disconnect oil cooler outlet and inlet hoses, then remove inlet tube from transaxle.
5. Remove valve body cover and gasket, then the kickdown cable from throttle cam.
6. Disconnect solenoid connector, then remove from transaxle case by pinching tangs of mating connector and pushing inward.
7. Remove valve body attaching bolts, then the valve body.

INSTALLATION
1. Shift transaxle to Reverse position.
2. Install valve body, using mirror to align groove of manual valve with manual plate. Torque valve body mounting bolts.
3. Install solenoid connector and attach mating connector.
4. Attach kickdown cable to throttle cam.
5. Install valve body cover and new gasket.

CAUTION: Do not use any type of sealer on valve cover or gasket.

6. Torque valve body cover bolts.
7. Install oil cooler inlet tube, then torque bolt to 12-17 ft lbs.
8. Connect oil cooler hoses.
9. Connect five transaxle electrical connectors and support transaxle harness on clips.
10. Connect battery ground cable.
11. Install air cleaner assembly and add specified transaxle fluid and check for leaks.
