Lap/Shoulder Safety Belt, Rear
The rear seat lap/shoulder safety belt extends from a retractor mounted to the lower part of vehicle structure behind the rear seat back. The belt then passes through a belt guide mounted to the upper part of vehicle structure above and behind the rear seat back. The belt then extends from above and behind the occupant's shoulder, at the proper downward angle over the occupant's shoulder and chest to lap belt buckle. The belt has a slip tongue on it that latches to the lap belt buckle and continues through the slip tongue to the floorpan, acting as a lap belt.
The rear inboard belt with buckle is secured to the floorpan under and behind the rear seat cushion. The rear inboard belt with buckle passes through the rear seat cushion. Attaching the tongue with buckle secures the occupant with both lower and upper restraints. This attachment of the tongue and buckle can be accomplished by a single, continuous movement.
NOTE: Safety belt assemblies must be replaced after they have been subjected to loading by occupants in a collision.
