Overboost Switch: Description and Operation

Boost Pressure Switch (BPS):

PURPOSE

The Boost Pressure Switch (BPS)is used for overboost protection.

OPERATION

The BPS, located behind the intake manifold, signals the PCM when turbo boost pressure reaches 10.4 - 11.6 psi (71.8 - 79.8 kPa). PCM uses the signal to provide turbo system overboost protection.
