System Description
^ The turbocharger system improves engine power output by compressing inlet air into a denser charge. Approximately 60% increase above atmospheric pressure is attainable.
^ Exhaust gas energy is used to turn a turbine which drives the compressor. The turbocharger assembly consists of these two components, together with an exhaust bypass device called a wastegate.
^ Because air is heated during compression, it is cooled before entering the engine by a heat exchanger called and air charge intercooler. This reduces the possibility of engine damage from pre-ignition and overheating. Air from the intercooler is ducted through the air flow meter to intake plenum.
