Automatic Transaxle

OPERATION
Voltage is present at the Ignition Switch contacts and Starter Assembly contacts at all times.

With the Ignition Switch in "START" and the Manual Lever Position Switch in "PARK" or "NEUTRAL", current flows through the Ignition Switch, the Manual Lever Position Switch, and the Starter Assembly to ground.

The Starter Assembly Pull-in and Hold windings are energized, and the Starter Assembly contacts close. Current now flows from the Battery to the Starter Assembly, and the Starter Motor runs to crank the engine.

Circuit 5 (BK/DB) provides a "key-in-start" input to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM); circuit 6 (BK/R) energizes the Starter Assembly Pull-in and Hold windings, providing a "cranking" signal to the Instrument Cluster and Cooling Fan Power Relay.
