Throttle Cable/Linkage: Adjustments
ACCELERATOR CABLE DEFLECTIONAccelerator Cable:
1. Measure the accelerator deflection at the deflection checking point midway between the cable bracket and the throttle cam. The deflection should be 1-3 mm (0.04-0.12 inch).
NOTE: The accelerator cable connects to the upper half of the throttle cam.
2. If necessary, loosen the locknuts on the cable bracket and adjust the cable deflection until it is within specification.
3. After the proper deflection is achieved, tighten the cable bracket locknuts.
WIDE-OPEN THROTTLE POSITION
1. Adjust the accelerator cable deflection.
2. Have an assistant press the accelerator pedal to the floor board.
3. Verify that the throttle plate is in the wide-open position while the pedal is pressed to the floor board.
4. If the throttle plate is not in the wide-open position, have the assistant keep the accelerator pressed to the floor board while you adjust the locknuts on the cable bracket. Adjust the nut until the throttle plate is in the wide-open position.
5. Have the assistant release the accelerator pedal. Verify that the throttle plate is completely in the closed position.
ACCELERATOR PEDAL LIMITER
NOTE: If unable to set both accelerator cable deflection and wide open throttle position, then accelerator travel needs to be adjusted.
1. Use a 17mm wrench to loosen the locknut on the limiter bolt.
2. Adjust the limiter, using a 14mm wrench, in to increase pedal travel, out to decrease travel.
3. While holding the limiter with the 14mm wrench, tighten the locknut using the 17mm wrench.
4. Check the accelerator cable deflection and wide open throttle position.
