Fuel Filler Hose: Service and Repair

NOTE: The filler neck assembly consists of the filler neck, an overflow tube, and a vapor tube. The filler neck assembly is replaced as a unit.

REMOVAL

1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3. Completely drain the fuel tank by siphoning or pumping out through the filler hose.

Filler Neck Retainer:






4. Unscrew the filler neck cap and remove the two screws from the fuel filler neck retainer.

Filler Neck Retainer:






5. Remove the filler neck retainer.

6. Raise and support the vehicle.

Filler Neck Splash Guard:






7. Remove the fuel filler neck splash guard attaching screw and remove the splash guard.

Filler Neck Clamp:






8. Loosen the filler neck hose attaching clamp and disconnect the filler neck hose from the filler neck.

Overflow Tube:






9. Loosen the fuel filler neck overflow hose attaching clamp and disconnect the hose from the overflow tube.

10. Disconnect the vapor hose from the vapor tube.

Filler Neck Attaching Bolt:






11. Remove the two filler neck attaching bolts.

Filler Neck Assembly:






12. Remove the filler neck assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. Place the filler neck assembly into mounting position.

2. Install the filler neck assembly attaching bolts. Tighten to 8-11 Nm (69-95 lb in).

3. Connect the vapor hose to the vapor tube.

4. Connect the filler neck hose to the filler neck and install the attaching clamp.

5. Connect the overflow hose to the overflow tube and install the attaching clamp.

6. Position the fuel filler neck splash guard and install the attaching screw.

7. Lower the vehicle.

8. Position the fuel filler neck retainer and install the attaching screws.

9. Install the filler neck cap.

10. Connect the negative battery cable.
