NOTE: You should enter this Pinpoint Test only when you have been directed here from Quick Test or Ignition System.


REMEMBER


To prevent the replacement of good components, be aware that the following non-EEC areas may be at fault.


- EDIS module

- EDIS coil packs

- Spark plugs and high tension cables

- Variable Reluctance sensor

- Arcing of secondary ignition components.


This Pinpoint Test is intended to diagnose only the following:


- Harness circuits: IDM, SAW

- Processor assembly



DESCRIPTION

The Ignition Diagnostic Module (IDM) is an input signal to the processor that verifies spark function. This signal is transmitted from the EDIS module to the processor and consists of a single pulse for each successful spark. Lack of an IDM pulses used as an indication of intermittent and/or missing spark.
