Intake Plenum

Intake Manifold Assembly:





REMOVAL

1. Relieve fuel system pressure, refer to FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF.
2. Partially drain cooling system.
3. Disconnect negative battery cable.
4. Remove air intake tube.
5. Disconnect fuel injector harness from EEC-IV harness at right-hand shock tower.
6. Disconnect crankshaft sensor.
7. Disconnect fuel supply and return lines.
8. Disconnect camshaft position sensor.
9. Remove accelerator cable and kickdown cable (automatic transaxle only) from throttle lever.
10. Remove accelerator cable bracket from intake manifold. Position cables out of way.
11. Remove power brake supply hose.
12. Remove PCV line.
13. Remove vacuum line from bottom of throttle body.
14. Remove seven attaching nuts from intake manifold studs.

15. Slide air intake manifold assembly off studs and remove it from cylinder head. Remove intake manifold gasket and discard it.

INSTALLATION

1. Clean and inspect mounting faces of both intake manifold and cylinder head. Both surfaces must be clean and flat.
2. Clean and oil manifold studs.
3. Position a new gasket over studs.
4. Install intake manifold assembly over studs.
5. Install seven attaching nuts and tighten to 16-20 Nm (12-15 lb.ft).
6. Install vacuum line on bottom of throttle body.
7. Install power brake supply hose.
8. Install PCV line.
9. Install accelerator cable bracket assembly on intake manifold.
10. Connect accelerator cable and kickdown cable (automatic transaxle only) on throttle lever.
11. Connect camshaft position sensor electrical connector.
12. Connect fuel supply and return lines.
13. Connect two fuel injector harness connectors to EEC-IV harness at right-hand shock tower.
14. Install air intake tube.
15. Refill cooling system.
16. Connect negative battery cable.
17. Start engine and check for fuel and coolant leaks.
