Clutch Switch: Description and Operation

Clutch Engagement Switch (CES):

PURPOSE
The Clutch Pedal Position Switch detects clutch engagement and sends an input signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM uses this input to determine engine load. Adjustments to air/fuel mixture, idle speed, ignition timing, fuel pressure, purge flow, and A/C cutoff are made accordingly.
