With Air Conditioning
OPERATIONVoltage is present at the cooling fan relay contacts at all times through the cooling fan fuse link cartridge. With the ignition switch in "START" or "RUN", voltage is present at the cooling fan relay coil.
If engine coolant temperature reaches 207 degrees F, the fan coolant temperature switch closes, grounding the cooling fan relay coil. The relay contacts close and power flows through the cooling fan fuse link cartridge, the cooling fan relay, and the electric cooling fan to ground; the electric cooling fan runs.
If engine coolant temperature decreases to 207 degrees F, the fan coolant temperature switch contacts open, deenergizing the cooling fan relay and shutting off the electric cooling fan.
When the fan coolant temperature switch is closed, or the air conditioning system is activated, a "fan on" input is provided to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
The cooling fan relay coil is grounded when the air conditioning system is activated, and the electric cooling fan runs continuously.
