LIFTGATE - DIFFICULT TO OPEN - HANDLE DISTORTS IN HOT WEATHER (VEHICLES BUILT FROM 6/1/92 TO 12/1/93)

ISSUE:
It may be difficult to open the rear liftgate on Escort/Tracer wagon vehicles. This occurs because the liftgate handle material becomes flexible and deflects in hot weather instead of unlatching the liftgate.

ACTION:
Replace the liftgate handle with revised design handle. The improved handle is made from a heat resistant material. Refer to the Escort/Tracer Service Manual, Section 01-14, for liftgate handle replacement.
