RH and LH Primary Crash Sensors
RemovalWARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
NOTE: To service stripped front outboard sensor retaining screws, replace sensor mounting bracket and use new screws.
1. Disconnect positive battery cable.
2. Remove inner fender splash shield.
3. Remove locator on connector from sheet metal.
4. Disconnect RH/LH front sensor electrical connector.
5. Remove two screws retaining RH/LH front sensor to RH/LH fender apron and remove sensor.
Installation
1. Position RH/LH front sensor, with arrow toward front, and wire lead in vehicle and secure sensor to RH/LH fender apron with two retaining screws. Tighten screws to 6.8-9.2 Nm (61-81 lb-in).
2. Connect RH/LH front sensor wire lead connector to wiring assembly connector.
3. Install locator on connector into hole in sheet metal.
4. Install inner fender splash shield.
5. Connect positive battery cable.
6. Verify air bag indicator.
