Front Manual Lap Belts

Pull the lap belt out of the retractor with a steady motion, route the lap belt forward of the shoulder belt, and insert the tongue into the buckle until you hear a snap and feel the latch engage.

NOTE: If the driver's lap belt is not connected, the safety belt warning indicator lamp located in the instrument cluster (Lo-Series models) will illuminate approximately 60 seconds and the warning chime will sound for four to eight seconds when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position. On High-Series models the indicator is located in the cluster's lower warning lamp bar. When lap belt is fastened the indicator lamp will go out immediately.

WARNING:
- BE SURE THE LAP BELT IS FITTED SNUGLY, AND AS LOW AS POSSIBLE, AROUND THE HIPS (NOT AROUND THE WAIST). FAILURE TO DO SO MAY INCREASE THE CHANCE OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION.
- FRONT AND REAR SEAT OCCUPANTS (INCLUDING PREGNANT WOMEN) SHOULD WEAR THE LAP BELTS IN ADDITION TO THE SHOULDER BELTS FOR OPTIMUM PROTECTION. REAR SEAT OCCUPANTS (INCLUDING PREGNANT WOMEN) SHOULD ALSO WEAR THE LAP BELTS FOR OPTIMUM PROTECTION.
