Throttle Body: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Remove engine air cleaner outlet tube.

2. Disconnect Idle Air Control (IAC) valve wire harness.

3. Remove four throttle body bolts. Ensure that throttle position sensor connector has been disconnected from harness.

4. Disconnect throttle control cable and, if equipped, speed control cable. Disconnect Throttle Valve (TV) control rod on automatic transaxle.

5. Disconnect and remove throttle cable bracket.

6. Carefully separate throttle body from upper intake manifold.

INSTALLATION

1. Ensure that both throttle body and upper intake manifold gasket surfaces are clean.

2. Install two studs of upper intake manifold.

3. Secure throttle body to upper intake manifold with four retaining bolts.

4. Install throttle bracket and secure.

5. Connect throttle position sensor and idle air control valve connectors.

6. Connect air cleaner outlet tube to throttle body intake, securing with a hose clamp.

7. Connect throttle control cable, TV control rod, and speed control cable, if equipped.
