Owner Notification Program 94M83 - 1992/1993 Tempo/Topaz 2.3L Engine Crankshaft Pulley Assembly - Replacement

Enclosed are copies of FCSD's Owner Notification Program 94M83 Bulletin applicable to the subject North American Ford-built products. A sample copy of NAAO Export Sales' owner notification letter is included. If your dealership or location is involved, the applicable VIN listing is included. If not use the bulletins as information only.

Please note that some details in the enclosed bulletins such as parts ordering and claim submission procedures are applicable to U.S. dealers only. Therefore, please observe the following administrative procedures:

1. Parts Order Order the parts directly from FCSD-IDO, Windsor, Canada, using conventional parts ordering procedures.

2. Reimbursement Only the Form 1863 will be accepted for reimbursement under this program. Upon completion of the required service, the form 1863 must be completely filled out and signed by authorized dealer personnel. Dealers having Direct Warranty Entry (DWE) are to use that method of claims submission.

THROUGH JUNE 30, 1995, WHICHEVER PROVIDES GREATER
COVERAGE.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
All 1992 and 1993 Model Year Tempo and Topaz cars built through March 31, 1993 with 2.3L engines.

REASON FOR THIS PROGRAM
The rubber isolator in the engine crankshaft pulley may shear or debond from the outer rink resulting in a loud clanking noise. If ignored and not repaired, loss of all accessory functions, including power steering, water pump, air conditioning and electrical charging system can occur.

PROGRAM PROVISIONS AND LIMITATIONS
Owners of affected cars will be notified that a no charge service program is available if their cars should experience the condition described above. This service will be available for 6 years/60,000 miles or through June 30, 1995, whichever provides greater coverage.

SERVICE ACTION
Cars returned for service under this program will have the engine crankshaft pulley assembly replaced.

REFUNDS
When all or a portion of the repair covered by the program is paid by the owner and/or dealer prior to the release of the program, both the owner and/or the dealer are eligible for a refund.
