SEAT BELT WARNING
When the Ignition Switch is turned to START or RUN, current flows through Fuse 18. The Warning Chime Module turns on the Fasten Belts Indicator for four to eight seconds, whether or not the belts are buckled. The chime sounds during this time only if the driver's belt is not buckled. An electronic timer in the Warning Chime Module controls both the Indicator and chime.

KEY WARNING
The key warning chime sounds when the driver's door is open and the key is in the ignition. With the key in the ignition, the Ignition Key Warning Switch closes and ground is applied to the Module through the 158 (BK/PK) wire. When the driver's door is open, voltage is applied to the Module through the 159 (R/BK) wire, and the chime sounds until the door is closed or the key is removed.

LAMPS ON WARNING
With the Main Light Switch in PARK or HEAD, voltage is applied to the Lamps On input of the Warning Chime Module through 14 (BR) and 257 (W/R) wires (without Automatic Headlamps) or through the 293 (O/R) and 257 (W/R) (with Automatic Headlamps). The Warning Chime Module senses this voltage and when the driver's door is opened, the chime sounds. The Lamps On Warning operates until the door is closed or until the lamps are turned off.

DOOR AJAR INDICTOR
The Instrument Cluster receives power from Fuse 5 through the 298 (P/O) wires the Ignition Switch in RUN. When any door or the liftgate (Station Wagon only) is ajar, the appropriate Door Latch Switch closes, grounding pin 17 (C256) of the Instrument Cluster through the 627 (BK/O) and 26 (W/P) (Station Wagon only) wire. In addition, pin 19 of the Instrument Cluster momentarily grounds pin 7 of the Warning Chime Module through the 183 (T/Y) wire, causing the Warning Chime Module to beep. During this time, the Instrument Cluster door Ajar Indicator illuminates.

BEEP TONE
Whenever a Cluster button is pressed, the Cluster momentarily grounds circuit 183 (T/Y) to the Warning Chime Module, causing it to emit a momentary beep tone. Whenever a System Scanner indicator is displayed, the instrument Cluster grounds circuit 183 (T/Y) to the module for one second, causing it to emit a one second beep tone.
