With Analog Instrument Cluster
OPERATIONThe tachometer is an electrically-operated instrument which indicates engine speed in Revolutions Per Minute (rpm). The tachometer range is 0 to 7000 rpm. The tachometer is mounted in the instrument cluster assembly.
OPERATION
The Tachometer is controlled by a solid-state circuit. With the Ignition Switch in "START" or "RUN", voltage is present at the solid-state circuit through I/P Fuse 18 and circuit 640 (R/Y). With the engine running, and intermittent ground signal (proportional to engine speed) is present through the Ignition Module. The solid-state circuit responds to these inputs by operating the Tachometer needle.
