Inspection

1. Wash all parts in suitable solvent, then dry with compressed air.
2. Ensure all dirt and particles are removed.
3. Inspect inner pump housing for wear or damage.
4. Inspect pump cover mating surface for wear. Scuff marks are normal. If surface is worn or grooved, replace pump assembly.
5. Inspect rotor for nicks, burrs or score marks, and remove imperfections with suitable oil stone.

Oil Pump Tip Clearance:

6. Using suitable feeler gauge, measure inner tip to outer rotor tip clearance. Clearance should be 0.0024 - 0.0071 in.

Oil Pump Rotor Endplay:

7. Install suitable straightedge, then using feeler gauge, measure rotor endplay. Clearance should be 0.0012 - 0.0035 in.
8. If any clearance does not meet specifications, replace oil pump assembly.
