Level Control Solenoid Valve: Service and Repair
REMOVALNOTE: The air spring solenoid valve has a two-stage solenoid pressure relief fitting similar to a radiator cap. A clip is first removed and rotation of the solenoid out of the spring will release air from the assembly before the solenoid can be removed.
1. Turn air suspension switch OFF.
2. Raise vehicle on a hoist. Suspension must be at full rebound.
3. Remove heat shield if equipped.
Air Spring:
Spring Solenoid:
4. Disconnect electrical connector and then disconnect air line.
5. Remove solenoid clip.
6. Rotate solenoid counterclockwise to first stop.
Air Spring Solenoid:
7. Pull solenoid straight out slowly to second stop to bleed air from system.
CAUTION: Do not fully release solenoid until air is completely bled from the air spring.
8. After air is fully bled from system, rotate counterclockwise to third stop and remove solenoid from solenoid housing.
O-Ring Installation:
9. Remove large O-ring from solenoid housing.
INSTALLATION
Solenoid:
1. Check solenoid O-rings for abrasion or cuts. Replace O-rings as required. Lightly grease O-ring area of solenoid and larger solenoid housing O-ring with Silicone Dielectric Compound D7AZ-19A331-A (ESE-M1C171-A) or equivalent.
2. Insert solenoid into air spring end cap and rotate clockwise to third stop, push into second stop, then rotate clockwise to first stop.
3. Install solenoid clip.
4. Inspect wire harness connector and ensure rubber gasket is in place at bottom of connector cavity.
5. Connect air line and electrical connector.
6. Install heat shield.
7. Lower hoist as required, but do not apply a load to the suspension.
8. Refill air spring(s). Fill
