Ride Height Sensor: Description and Operation

The height sensor sends signals to the control module. The three conditions that the control module interprets from the height sensor are that the vehicle is either at, above or below trim height.

The height sensor is attached to the frame crossmember and to the left rear upper control arm. As the rear of the vehicle moves up and down the height sensor lengthens and shortens. Magnets mounted on the lower slide portion of the sensor move relative to the to the sensor housing, generating a signal that is sent to the control module, through two small Hall effect switches that are attached to the sensor housing.
