Shoulder Safety Belt Height Adjuster With Stripped Weld Nuts

D-Ring Adjuster Weld Nut Thread Repair Kit 134-00018
1. With the "B" pillar interior trim panel removed, drill out the damaged threads in the upper "B" pillar structure using the 1/2 inch drill provided in the Rotunda "D" Ring Adjuster Weld Nut Thread Repair Kit 134-00018 or equivalent.
2. Apply a suitable lubricant to the threads of the M14 x 1.5 tap provided in the kit and tap new threads.
NOTE: After each rotation, back tap off slightly to remove new cuttings and be sure to blow out any chips before performing step 3.
3. Select one of the thread inserts provided in the kit and hand screw it into the re-tapped hole until it is slightly below the surface of the hole.
NOTE: The drive "kees" on the insert will act as an automatic stop.
4. After insertion of the thread insert, use a 12 oz. hammer to lightly tap the installation tool (provided in the kit) several times to drive down the insert "kees".
5. Insert the height adjuster module in the opening of the upper "B" pillar structure, making sure that safety belt height adjuster knob on the height adjuster module is positioned above the D-ring attachment stud. (The fool-proofing tab is located at the bottom and is to be inserted in the provided hole in the "B" pillar structure).
NOTE: If the two hex head attaching bolts on the height adjuster module are not stripped, install the height adjuster module to the body structure as stated in step 5. If the height adjuster module attaching bolts are stripped, replace the height adjuster module and install it to the body structure as stated in step 5.
6. Align both attaching hex head bolts in the height adjuster module to the weld nuts in the "B" pillar reinforcement.
7. Hand start the top attaching bolt and tighten until it is snug.
8. Hand start the bottom attaching bolt and tighten until it is snug.
9. Tighten the top and bottom attaching bolts to 30-43 Nm (22-32 ft lbs).
10. After installation of the D-ring height adjuster module, install the interior trim components previously removed.
NOTE: Knob must be able to travel from top to bottom of slot in the "B" pillar finish panel.
11. Function the adjuster knob by squeezing the release button and sliding the adjuster up and down.
12. Position the safety belt D-ring to the "B" pillar. Position and hand start the retaining nut on the module stud. Tighten to 23.5-31.5 Nm (17-23 ft lbs).
13. Check to see that the safety belt D-ring rotates freely after installation.
14. Install the safety belt D-ring cover over the retaining nut and snap it into place.
15. Position the module adjustment knob in the uppermost position.
