Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
Canister Purge Solenoid:
The Canister Purge (CANP) solenoid regulates purging of the carbon canister. The normally CLOSED solenoid prevents fuel vapors from entering the intake manifold when the engine is NOT running. The solenoid valve, controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), is located between the charcoal canister and the throttle body vacuum fitting.
