Displaying and Reading Trouble Codes
NOTE: Ford DOES NOT provide procedures to retrieve trouble codes without the Super Star II tester.Fig. 7 Diagnostic Trouble Code Index (Part 1 Of 2):
Fig. 7 Diagnostic Trouble Code Index (Part 2 Of 2):
The ABS module is capable of performing an on-board diagnostic using the Rotunda Super Star II Tester, 007-0041B or equivalent. The module monitors system operation and can store all defined diagnostic trouble codes in its memory. The error codes, Fig 7, can be retrieved from the ABS module in the following manner:
1. Connect Super Star II Tester to connector located in engine compartment.
2. Turn on Super Star II Tester and latch button down in TEST position.
3. Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
4. Codes will appear at approximately 15 second intervals. Leave button latched until all codes are output.
If the first code received is in the 20s and no other code is received, service the indicated component. No other codes can be output if a 20s code exists. After servicing the indicated 20s code, repeat the procedure for retrieving error codes.
If a code 61 is received with any other code, ignore the 61 code and service the other indicated components. If after correcting all other malfunctions, the ``Check Anti-Lock Brake'' lamp is still on, service the fluid level switch circuit.
Fig. 9 Quick Test Check Sheet:
If no code, or only a code 10 is received, use the anti-lock quick check sheet, Fig. 9, since some malfunctions are not recognized and retained in the ABS module memory.
