Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments
Throttle Position Sensor:
Throttle Position Sensor:
Throttle Position Sensor:
The throttle position sensor is preset at the factory. No adjustments should be needed unless replacement is required.
Inspect and adjust the TP sensor as follows:
CAUTION: Do not adjust the throttle hard-stop screw. This screw is factory set and must not be adjusted.
Inspection of Throttle Position (TP) Sensor Setting
1. Disconnect connector from throttle position sensor.
2. Connect Rotunda Digital Volt-Ohmmeter 105-00051 or equivalent to the throttle position sensor between terminals B and D.
3. Insert a feeler gauge between the hard-stop screw and throttle body stop lever.
4. Note continuity between terminals B-D on volt-ohmmeter.
Feeler Gauge Continuity Between Terminals
0.5mm (0.020 in) Yes
O.7mm (O.O27 in) No
If necessary, adjust throttle position sensor as outlined.
Adjustment of Throttle Position (TP) Sensor
1. Disconnect connector from throttle position sensor.
2. Connect a volt-ohmmeter between terminals B and D.
3. Insert a 0.5mm (0.020 inch) feeler gauge between the hard-stop screw and throttle body stop lever.
4. Loosen two attaching screws on TP sensor.
5. Rotate throttle position sensor clockwise about 30 degrees, then rotate it back counterclockwise until continuity exists between terminals B and D.
6. Replace feeler gauge with a 0.7mm (0.027 inch) gauge.
7. Check that volt-ohmmeter indicates no continuity between B and D.
8. If volt-ohmmeter shows continuity, repeat Steps 4 through 8.
NOTE: Use caution not to move throttle position sensor from set position when tightening the attaching screws.
9. Tighten two attaching screws securely.
10. Open throttle valve fully a few times. Recheck the adjustment of the throttle position sensor.
