Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

WARNING: DO NOT smoke or carry an open flame of any type while working on or near any fuel related component(s).

REMOVAL
1. Depressurize fuel system.
2. Remove vacuum line at pressure regulator.
3. Disconnect fuel return line from fuel pressure regulator.
4. Remove retaining screws from pressure regulator.
5. Remove pressure regulator assembly, gasket, and O-ring.
6. If scraping is necessary, be careful not to damage pressure regulator or fuel supply line gasket surfaces.


INSTALLATION
1. Lubricate new pressure regulator O-ring with a light oil.
2. Verify gasket surfaces of fuel pressure regulator and fuel injection manifold are clean.
3. Install new O-ring and new gasket on regulator.
4. Position regulator onto fuel rail and install retaining bolts. Torque to 27 - 40 in lb (3.0 - 4.5 Nm).
5. Reconnect fuel return hose to pressure regulator and secure with clamp.
6. Reconnect vacuum line to pressure regulator.
7. Reconnect electrical connector to fuel pump.
8. START and RUN the engine. Verify fuel system does not leak.
