Fuel Pressure Regulator: Description and Operation

Fuel Pressure Regulator:

PURPOSE
Regulates fuel pressure supplied to injectors.

LOCATION
Bolted to fuel rail downstream of injectors.

OPERATION
Pressure is controlled by a spring applied to a diaphragm. By exposing the top side of the diaphragm to manifold vacuum, constant fuel pressure is maintained at all injectors. Fuel in excess of immediate requirements passes through the regulator and flows back to the tank.
