Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Description and Operation
The electric cooling fan draws air through the radiator to dissipate heat absorbed by coolant. The fan will operate when the coolant has reached a specific temperature. The coolant temperature switch matches fan operation to coolant heat load. At 212°F, the switch will open and begin fan operation. When the coolant temperature drops to 200°F, the switch will close, stopping the fans operation. The 1.9L/4-116 Escort cooling fan is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
