Removal and Installation


On 1994 models equipped with airbags, disable airbag system prior to performing service operation as possible airbag deployment may cause personal injury.


This procedure has been altered by a factory service bulletin.
1. Drain radiator, then loosen belt tensioner and remove drive belt from pulley.
2. Remove belt tensioner bolt, then tensioner.
3. Support engine with a floor jack, then remove engine vibration dampener nut and bolt and remove dampener.
4. Remove two front engine mount nuts, then loosen engine mount pivot bolt and position engine mount aside.
5. Raise engine to access power steering pump pulley, then hold pulley in position with a suitable tool and remove three pulley mounting bolts and pulley.
6. Lower engine, then position engine mount and install two nuts.
7. Raise and support vehicle, then loosen clamp and disconnect return line from pump.
8. Loosen flare nut from high-pressure line and disconnect line from pump.
9. Remove two passenger side splash shields, then remove four A/C compressor mounting bolts and position compressor aside.
10. Remove lower radiator hose, then remove three power steering pump mounting bolts and pump.
11. Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. Torque A/C compressor mounting bolts to 30-40 ft. lbs.
b. Position power steering pump pulley, then hold in position with a suitable tool and install and torque mounting bolts to 15-22 ft. lbs.
c. Torque belt tensioner mounting bolt to 30-41 ft. lbs.
