Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair




REMOVAL:

NOTE:
The ignition module is located on the left side of the engine compartment, in front of the left strut tower.

1. Turn the ignition key OFF.

Ignition Module Assembly:





2. Remove the three module sub-bracket attaching nuts.
3. Gently pull the sub-bracket and module assembly straight up and disconnect the module electrical harness.

NOTE: To disconnect the module connector, push on the connector where it says PUSH, then slide connector from module.

Ignition Module Mounting:





4. Remove the two module attaching screws from the sub-bracket, then remove the ignition module from the sub-bracket.


INSTALLATION:

1. Apply a 1/32 in coating of dielectric silicone to metal base of module.
2. Position the module on the sub-bracket.
3. Install the two module attaching screws and tighten to 24-35 in lb (3-4 Nm).
4. Connect the electrical harness to the ignition module.
5. Position the module and sub-bracket on the module bracket assembly.
6. Install the three attaching nuts and tighten the nuts to 62-88 in lb (7-10 Nm).
