Air Cleaner Housing: Description and Operation

Air Cleaner Assembly:

The air filter housing bolts to the left fender apron and consists of a filter housing, air filter element, and a removable lid. The air cleaner lid contains the Air Charge Temperature (ACT) Sensor and the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. These sensor supply critical information to the electronic fuel control system within the Engine Control Assembly (ECA). A foam filter element is mounted in the bottom of the filter housing. This element filters air before it enters the crankcase vent hose that is attached to the bottom of the filter housing. The air cleaner lid is secured to the filter housing with four clamps.
