Brake Lamp: Description and Operation

Voltage is present at the Stop Lamp Switch at all times through the STOP Fuse.

With the brake pedal depressed, the Stop Lamp Switch Contacts close. Current flows through the STOP Fuse, the Stop Lamp Switch and the Stop Lamps to ground. The Stop Lamps illuminate.

The Stop Lamp Switch also supplies a "brake applied" signal to the 4EAT Control Module and Shift Lock Actuator (with automatic transaxle), the Speed Control Amplifier (with Speed Control) and the EGI Control Module (with 1.8L engine).
