Variable Induction Control Actuator: Description and Operation

High Speed Inlet Air (HSIA) Control Solenoid:

PURPOSE
The High Speed Inlet Air (HSIA) control solenoid regulates the vacuum apply to the inlet air shutter valve actuator.

LOCATION
Side of intake manifold.

OPERATION
The solenoid is governed by an output signal from the Electronic Control Assembly (ECA). The solenoid applies vacuum to the shutter valve at low rpm, holding the valve closed. Above 5000 rpm, the solenoid vents shutter valve actuator vacuum to atmosphere, allowing the shutter valve to open.
