Fuel Filler Hose: Service and Repair

The filler neck assembly consists of the filler neck, overflow tube, and vapor tube. Assembly is replaced as a unit.

REMOVAL
1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
2. Disconnect negative battery cable.
3. Completely drain fuel tank into an approved container.

Filler Neck Retainer:






4. Unscrew filler neck cap and remove two screws from neck retainer.

Filler Neck Retainer:






5. Remove neck retainer.
6. Raise vehicle.

Filler Neck Splash Guard:






7. Remove neck splash guard attaching screw and remove splash guard.

Filler Neck Clamp:






8. Loosen neck hose attaching clamp and disconnect hose from filler neck.

Overflow Tube:






9. Loosen overflow hose attaching clamp and disconnect hose from overflow tube.

Vapor Hoses:






10. Disconnect vapor hoses from vapor tubes.

Filler Neck Attaching Bolt:






11. Remove filler neck attaching bolts.

Filler Neck Assembly:






12. Remove filler neck assembly.

INSTALLATION
1. Place filler neck assembly into mounting position.
2. Install attaching bolts and tighten to 69 - 95 in lb (8 - 11 Nm).
3. Connect vapor hoses to vapor tubes.
4. Connect filler neck hose and install attaching clamp.
5. Connect overflow hose and install attaching clamp.
6. Position filler neck splash guard and install attaching screw.
7. Lower vehicle.
8. Position filler neck retainer and install attaching screws.
9. Install filler cap.
10. Connect negative battery cable.
