Seat Belt Warning Timer: Description and Operation

Safety Belt Reminder Indicator Function
If driver's safety belt is fastened with ignition key turned to ON, the safety belt indicator in the instrument cluster will not illuminate.

If driver's safety belt is not fastened with ignition key turned to ON, the safety belt indicator will illuminate steadily for approximately 60 seconds as a reminder to fasten the safety belt. If the driver fastens the safety belt while indicator is illuminated, the indicator will turn off immediately.

NOTE: The operation of the safety belt reminder chime function is not affected by this change in operation of the safety belt reminder indicator.

The system incorporates chime and lamp warnings. The safety belt warning chime is grounded by a switch in the LH inboard buckle. The safety belt warning chime will sound for approximately eight seconds unless the driver's belt is connected.
