Front Manual Lap Belts
Pull the lap belt out of the retractor with a steady motion, route the lap belt forward of the shoulder belt, and insert the tongue into the buckle until you hear a snap and feel the latch engage.
NOTE: If the driver's lap belt is not connected, the warning chime will sound for four to eight seconds when the ignition is turned to the ON position. (The safety belt warning indicator in the instrument cluster will always illuminate for 4-8 seconds when the ignition is turned to the RUN position, regardless if the drivers lap belt is fastened).
WARNING: BE SURE THE LAP BELT IS FITTED SNUGLY, AND AS LOW AS POSSIBLE, AROUND THE HIPS (NOT AROUND THE WAIST). FAILURE TO DO SO MAY INCREASE THE CHANCE OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION.
NOTE: If the driver's lap belt is not connected, the safety belt warning indicator located in the instrument cluster (Lo-Series models) will illuminate and the warning chime will sound for four to eight seconds when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position. On High-Series models the indicator is located in the cluster's lower warning lamp bar.
WARNING:
- ENSURE THE LAP BELT IS FITTED SNUGLY AND AS LOW AS POSSIBLE AROUND THE HIPS, NOT AROUND THE WAIST. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY INCREASE THE CHANCE OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION.
- FRONT AND REAR SEAT OCCUPANTS (INCLUDING PREGNANT WOMEN) SHOULD WEAR THE LAP BELTS IN ADDITION TO THE SHOULDER BELTS FOR OPTIMUM PROTECTION. REAR SEAT OCCUPANTS (INCLUDING PREGNANT WOMEN) SHOULD ALSO WEAR THE LAP BELTS FOR OPTIMUM PROTECTION.
