Throttle Body: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect air cleaner outlet tube.
2. Disconnect throttle position sensor electrical connector.
1. Remove four throttle body bolts.
2. Disconnect air bypass hose.
3. Disconnect throttle control cable.
6. If equipped with automatic transaxle, disconnect TV control rod.
4. Disconnect and remove throttle bracket.
5. Carefully separate throttle body from upper intake manifold.
6. Remove and discard gasket between throttle body and upper intake manifold.

INSTALLATION

1. Ensure that both throttle body and upper intake manifold gasket surfaces are clean.
NOTE: If scraping is necessary, be careful not to damage gasket surfaces of throttle body and upper manifold assemblies, or allow material to drop into manifold.
2. Install upper throttle body gasket on two studs of upper intake manifold.
3. Secure throttle body to upper intake manifold with four retaining bolts. Tighten to 12-14 lb ft (16-20 Nm).
4. Install throttle bracket and secure with two nuts. Tighten to 12-14 lb ft (16-20 Nm).
5. Connect throttle position sensor electrical connector and air bypass valve hose.
6. Connect engine air cleaner outlet tube to throttle body intake, securing it with a hose clamp. Tighten clamp to 23-30 lb in (2.5-3.4 Nm).
