Oil Pan: Service and Repair
Fig. 13 Oil Pan:
1. Relieve fuel system pressure as outlined under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove oil dipstick, then raise and support vehicle.
3. On models with low oil level sensor, remove retainer clip at sensor and disconnect sensor electrical connector.
4. On all models, drain crankcase.
5. Remove starter motor, then disconnect Exhaust Gas Oxygen (EGO) sensor electrical connector.
6. Remove head pipe and catalytic converter assembly.
7. Remove lower engine/flywheel dust cover from converter/flywheel housing.
8. Remove oil pan to cylinder block and front cover attaching screws, Fig. 13, then the oil pan and gasket.
9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Apply 1/5inch bead of suitable silicone sealer to junction of front and rear main bearing caps with cylinder block, prior to installing new gasket.
b. Torque oil pan bolts to specifications and low oil level sensor (if equipped) to specifications.
