LINCOLN-MERCURY:
1992 GRAND MARQUIS


ISSUE:
Some Owner Guides were installed in 1992 Grand Marquis' built at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant between October 1, 1991 and October 22, 1991 which may have incorrectly stated that the vehicle "HAS the brake shift interlock feature" when it did not. The driver does not have to depress the brake pedal on vehicles built during this time period to pull the gearshift lever out of PARK. This feature was delayed in production and there is no direct adverse effect on the vehicle operation.


ACTION:
If the customer questions the Owner Guide's statement, the dealer should explain that the Owner Guide is in error and that it is not necessary to depress the brake pedal to pull the gearshift lever out of PARK on these particular vehicles.
