Compressor/Pump: Description and Operation

The air compressor assembly consists of a compressor and a vent solenoid, both are non-serviceable. The compressor assembly is mounted in the engine compartment on the LH fender area below the air cleaner. The air compressor is a single single cylinder electric motor which supplies pressurized air as needed. The air compressor is powered by a relay that is controlled by the control module.

The pressurized air from the air compressor passes through the dryer assembly which contains a drying agent (silica gel). The moisture is removed from the air dryer when vented air passes out of the system during vent operation.
