NOTE: You should enter this Pinpoint Test only when you have been directed here from Diagnosis by Symptom.

REMEMBER


To prevent the replacement of good components, be aware that the following non-EEC areas may be at fault.


- Engine coolant

- Thermostat

- Engine cooling system

- Towing limits

- Steep road grades


This Pinpoint Test is intended to diagnose only the following:


- Processor assembly

- Harness circuits: CTL



DESCRIPTION


The Coolant Temperature Light is on some Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis trailer tow applications. The light is intended to alert the driver of an overheat condition. The coolant temperature light will be displayed on the vehicle instrument panel as "CHECK TEMP".
The "CHECK TEMP" light will usually come on while the vehicle is being operated under very heavy load and high temperature engine conditions are reached.
The "CHECK TEMP" light will turn off when the engine temperature has returned to normal operating condition.
