Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation

With the Ignition Switch in ACC or RUN, voltage is present at the Trunk Lid Release Switch through Circuit Breaker 12. When the Trunk Lid Release Switch is closed, current flows through Circuit Breaker 12, the Trunk Lid Release Switch and the Trunk Lid Release Solenoid to ground. The Solenoid energizes to actuate the trunk lid lock mechanism, unlatching the trunk lid.

On Keyless Entry equipped vehicles, the Keyless Entry module powers the Trunk Lid Release Solenoid to unlatch the trunk lid.
